How do I reduce false alarms in smoke detectors installed in office kitchens or areas with dust?

Use heat detectors instead of smoke detectors in kitchens. In dusty areas, install optical beam detectors or multi-criteria detectors that can distinguish between smoke and dust particles.

In a more critical situation where it is highly recommended to have a smoke detector installed in the kitchen ( where there’s electrical panel or fuse board located in the kitchen), consider adding a delay on the smoke detector especially if it an addressable system, and a Cause and Effect (C & E) can be programmed to activate a warning alert if one of the detectors is activated in the Kitchen, but trigger general alarm when more than one detector is activated.
